But none of those other lines are owned by Hallmark. Actually Barbie seems to have lines that target different age groups such as the fairy and princess stuff for the little kids and the Fashionistas for the older ones and Bratz is pretty much dead since Mattel killed it. Really the current RB while it seems targeted towards older kids so far it has nothing that would make parents of younger kids not want their kids exposed to it. Maybe it is more Hallmark is trying to make something that might appeal to all ages. For example a preschool age girl might have wanted Bratz dolls but most preteens wouldn't be caught dead with a Dora doll.
Hallmark also could ve invented another series to target older kids.
If they could manage to target different age-groups it would be fantastic.
...but they seem to ignore original RB and transform her and friends into Barbie-clones.
I miss the cuddle-factor ... it s all hard plastic now.
I think you know what I mean ... I simply disklike the fact that the toys are made so extremely uniform today. I want to see uniqueness and I prefer cuteness not trendiness. I don t belong to their target group so it is stupid to complain... I know !
Hallmark decided to change the audience and did not notice or simply accept that rainbow brite lost a lot of her uniqueness.
It s only one opinion. Everybody thinks different about it ! ;)
I so hope that they at least produce cuddly cute sprites ... this would be a win !!!

I think it s kind of pointless to expose RB into competition with such products.
I hope Hallmark alters course in the future.

Go look at the photos I put up of Marie-Louise here in RB discussions. She's 9 1/2 now and loves the original RB dolls even though they were targeted at younger children. They didn't come out until her mom was 10 and she loved them as well back then.

And I agree with what you said about Dora.

I think the new sprites will be just as plastic as the dolls and horses are. It's Polly Pocket all over again but in a new size.

And yes, I agree about the cuddle factor being missing.

"and Bratz is pretty much dead since Mattel killed" them...

So Mattel killed the Bratz girls  ???

I better be calling Commissaire Maigret to investigate this mass murder  .

You hit that on the dot. I don't want Dora within 200 feet of me! (new or old) Those eyes creep me out!

But another point one should also consider is that Dora has nothing in common with original Raibow regarding the "look" ! ;)

I just bought Shimmer today from Toys R Us. She is $1 more at the store than on the website. According to my cashier, it is because "Toys R Us.com is a separate company"

But she is very cute. And very blue.

I haven't read this whole thread cause I'm way lazy, but I just have to say that I LOVE the new RBB stuff! I have all the horses, all the dolls, and the stickers. I actually had to buy 2 of RBB and Moonglo because my 2yr old BOY loves to play with them!! I took a video of him playing with the dolls the other day. Since this forum isn't private, I don't wanna post it on here, but it is way cute!

I currently have a friend working on a custom made from one of the new dolls. I can't wait to get it! It will be a little while though cause she's slow, lol.
