Hi Color Kids!
If you haven't heard yet, it appears a new Rainbow Brite cartoon is on it's way!
Actress Emily Osment (aka Lily from Hannah Montana) is voicing Rainbow Brite in a new cartoon.
She tweeted/instagrammed a photo of the cover of the first script.
"Episode 1: Cloudy with a chance of gloom"
Please keep an eye on Brite Cast, RainbowBrite.Net and RainbowBrite.Co.Uk for more information as it unfolds!
Have a Rainbow Day!

New Rainbow Brite Cartoon!
This is great to know. Nostalgia ftw. It will be interesting to see when it comes out. Hopefully Rainbow Brite doesn't change too much from what it/she used to be (although subtle changes are okay).

I'm so excited to hear this! I hope this 'boot is as successful as the My Little Pony one.

I'm very excited for the new cartoon! I admit I do have my fears that they will either do what they did with Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake to Rainbow and completely change and ruin her image by either changing her appearance, the color kids, the sprites, all of rainbow land, making starlight look more like a girl horse like in the 09 re-launch, and leave out Murky and Lurky ect.... I just don't want to see Rainbow go the way of every other failed attempt to bring her back. I hope they do this right. Rainbow is very special to me and all of the rest the fans and to see her done in a way that will only disappoint will just break my heart.

So what do you guys most want to see/not see?
My wants:
- STORMY
- All of the color kids + the special kids (and maybe some new ones?)
- Murky & Lurky (it's just not RB without them)
- Starlite and Twink
- Brian
- Baby Brite/Sphere of Light
- 2D animation
- Classic style look
- Lots of merchandise (for adults and kids alike)
- Return of original voice actors (cameos at the very least)
- Singing!
My do-not-wants:
- Aged characters
- 3D CGI animation ala the new Care Bears
- Dumbing down of characters (especially Rainbow)
I'm sure I'll think of more later...hehe What about you?

I agree with almost all of this. I hope RB gets a big new following like the bronies. what should they be called? Rainbonies? Brainbows? lol, those words probably sucked. but you get the idea.

New Rainbow Brite Cartoon!
My co-worker decided on the word "RainBros" today.
Not so sure about that...
I'm really worried that they're going to take the strawberry shortcake approach and we'll end up with things like "Stormy goes to school" and "Patty learns to share".
:S
No thank you.
The best part about Rainbow Brite is that the cartoon didn't attempt to down-talk to children, but just told a story worth telling.
I'm also worried about them modernizing/aging the characters.. do not want!
also, I'll be sad if all the colour kids aren't represented.
I love the diversity of Rainbowland.

I agree with all this too, and also I like that name. Way better than anything I came up with. Seriously, that name should have been obvious to me. Either way, its perfect, and I think I will actually use it.silverorangetears wrote:My co-worker decided on the word "RainBros" today.

I just want to add, that the episode title references gloom so it doesn't sound like it will be lacking villains. And its humorous, with a reference to cloudy with a chance of meatballs. So it kinda sounds promising.

Plus Krys. And Rainbow and co and Murky occasionally having to at least tolerate each other or something along those lines (yes this was inspired off of that Brite Cast episode XD).
Would also love to see a dark foil to the protagonist herself. Same or very similar powers and abilities, but very different and dark personality? Possible rival (arch-rival even)? Neutral anti-hero/anti-villain? Constant knocking of heads involved that slowly erodes over time into mutual respect, aka love-hate relationship? idk
Either way, hopefully it gets the same or comparable success to My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
