Rare RB ads from Italy

Post by Aquarius »

These would be great for someones collection. I only posted links for two of the Rainbow Brite ones, but there's more. And even more ads from the 70's, 80's and 90's are listed too.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

The first one is for the 3D erasers that were only sold in Europe. I have all but Twink but only Buddy is MOC.

The second one is for the Hateful Sprites.

I've never seen either one before. I've got a nice RB Book or two in Italian but nothing like this.

Thanks for putting it up for all to enjoy.

...It wasn't a slip. It was intentionally done as a joke. :bg: :)

There were FAR too many sprites in Gen 1. I made a quick reference guide to them all in Collecting a while back and found no less than 39 different versions. You'll find the list below.

There were many different sprites in Gen 1 divided into seven different lines. That gives a possible total of no less than 50 but only 39 different ones were actually made. Here's the breakdown.

TYPE>.......Hand......Large Boy......Large Girl......Hatful......Emotions......Taco......Baby*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COLOR

White.........YES.......YES...............NO...............YES.......YES..............YES.......NO

Red............YES.......YES..............NO................YES......YES...............YES......YES

Orange.......YES.......YES..............NO.................NO........NO.................NO.......YES

Yellow........YES.......YES..............NO.................YES......YES...............YES.....YES

Green.........YES.......YES..............NO.................YES......YES...............NO.......NO

Blue...........YES.......YES..............NO.................YES......YES...............YES.....NO

Indigo.........YES.......NO................NO.................YES......NO.................NO.......NO

Violet.........YES.......NO................NO..................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Dk. Pink......NO........NO................NO..................NO.......NO.................NO......YES

Lt. Pink.......NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Lt. Yellow....NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Lt. Green.....NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Turquoise....NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Purple.........NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

Lavender.....NO........NO................YES................NO.......NO.................NO.......NO

*For the Baby Sprites, the color shown is that around the face.

If you include the lighter shade used for Merrily, yellow was the most popular color for sprites and the only one used across the board. Red and blue were next in line, followed by green. The least popular color was violet followed by the unique colors for the girl sprites.

Yes, really. 39 different sprites. 42 if you count the three different Lurkys that were made.

Use the chart above to figure out the ones you're missing. The Taco Bell sprites are pretty easy to find, even with tags. The hardest ones to find are the Baby Sprites form Europe. There are probably enough of them loose on German ebay to make a set but they come from different sellers and that drives up the postage costs. There are four different babys and four different tacos if you're interested.

Good luck finding the ones you need to complete your set.
