My dog, a Siberian Husky, was named Randi after her vet. Bless her heart, she left a New Year's party in a blizzard to deliver Randi & her siblings. The breeder had named her, not us. Randi (the dog) passed away in 2002. I had 2 parakeets that lived from first grade until my senior year. Susan (blue gray & white) was named because back then I was obsessed with the name Susan and named all my dolls Susan. My dad asked if he could name my 2nd bird Fancy (yellow & green), so we did. Susan & Fancy. :)

My friend's 2 dogs who passed away last year were Petey & Patches, brothers. Her 2 new dogs are Roxy and Rudy. They are not related and were not intentionally named that way... Roxy was a rescue who already had a name, and they bought Rudy. Rudy's a chocolate lab and Roxy is a boxer.

The local Culver's restaurant was having a police K-9 fundraiser and I got to meet Britta and Cairo today. I think those are really awesome names! And the officer said "Britta, just like the water filter but with 2 T's," lol!

My cousin had a bad habit of naming her cats "puddy" or "kitty" and her Pug dogs "puggy,"... I revoked her naming rights and named her cat Tasha, lol. :) She named her current pugs Spike and Angel.

I loved my neighbor's hamster, named Pickles! Sadly he went on to the Rainbow Bridge as well.
Upon the Rainbow, my rainbow blog.

Pickles for a hampster's name? That seems perfect! To me, all animals are so precious and they all deserve a name. Sounds like you, Indigojoy, have had animals or know animals that have a place in this world with a name. Each animal is so special in it's own little way.

My poodle Nermal went to the Rainbow Bridge as well. I know he's not in pain like he was here on earth (he had bilateral hernias and his intestines were dying inside his body).

Here's a picture of him and me (I was about 17 or so, not sure). It's the only webcame pic I have of him, the rest were done with digital cam but I'm not with him in those pictures. Nermal was such a wonderful dog. Great listener too.

Here we are:

Aww thanks Tom :-) I just had got Nermal (the poodle) and he was such a wonderful pup. I miss him like crazy. We had him cremated so he's sitting here with me on the desk.
