Hey guys and gals,
I'm so curious... you all are very interesting people... so I assume we will have some wonderful names pop up...
What is your favorites names for a cat and/or a dog?
Dog: Nermal, Odie, Petey, Poochie, Marcella, Annie (there's more but this is my top favorites)
I never owned a cat so I'm not sure what good names there are for them.
List as many as you want. :-) I'll be back to check and see what all wonderful names you all can come up with. ^_^
HUGS FOR ALL!!

I don't really have favorite pet names. Every time I acquire a new pet, I have a seriously difficult time figuring out a name.
So I'll just share my current pets' names...
Cat #1: Peat
(yes, I realize my cat is named after decayed vegetation -- but he's mostly browns)
Cat #2: Chalcedony
(he is big and gray -- just like chalcedony)
Turtle #1: Minn
(a Snapping turtle named for the book Minn of the Mississippi by Holling Clancy Holling)
Turtle #2: Julius
(a totally misnamed Red-eared Slider, as Julius turned out to really be a Julia...*sigh* Never name a pet before you've figure out their sex. Or else give them an ambiguous name.)
Turtle #3: T.T.
(I told you I suck at naming, right? T.T. = The Turtle She's an Alligator Snapping Turtle.)
Turtle #4: Skippy
(an Eastern Spiny Softshell, who is named because he looks like a skipping stone)
Turtle #5: Darwin
(A little stinker of a red-eared slider. Named for Charles Darwin.)
Turtle #6: Nemo
(A Musk Turtle. As an aquatic turtle who spends almost all his time underwater, it was only fitting to name him after Captain Nemo...)
Turtles #7 and #8: "The Girls" (Lola and Annie)
(Two rescued Malaysian Box Turtles. Lola was named before we got her, but Annie was named for the fact that we rescued her from Oakwoods Metro Park's craptacular nature center, and is a play on Little Annie Oakley.)
My newts don't have names. Neither does the Cuban tree frog I found in a plant I bought at my local grocery store. You can tell they check their shipments oh-so-carefully for potential hitchhikers...
And let's see if I've got any photos of the menagerie...

Chalcedony

Peat!
And...I don't seem to have any photos of the turtles. Maybe later, ok? Photographing through water and glass is always difficult.

Nah you don't suck at naming - those are very unique names. I agree though, it IS hard to give a new pet a name. But the ones you chose I really like. My all time favorite name that you came up with is Peat. That's so cute! Thanks for sharing! :-)Clinozoisite wrote:I don't really have favorite pet names. I like your aquaria, Tom! Very nice. I used to have a large reef tank, but all the up-keep of a saltwater tank became too much. So very stressful...and expensive.

Thank you Clinozoisite !
I am more a dog-type person but I really have to admit that your cat Chalcedony is very beautiful ... so majestic !
Turtles are very cute as pets too.
Really cool that you found a froggy on a plant you bought ... do you have a photo of him ? ... I like frogs ...I love my African dwarf frogs ... they are so cute but sometimes also shy ! ^^
So cool ... a saltwater tank is so beautiful ... the saltwater-animals have such fascinating colours and forms ... but you are so right ... I also heared the up-keep can be extremely challenging in so manny ways (never had one cause I feared it could get too much for me and everything without exception is comparatively high-cost ) ... my "fresh water aquaria" sometimes exhaust me too ... you have my full sympathy ! ^^

Tom,
I love the name 'McFluffy', I think i spelled it right. That's adorable!
In the past I've had hampsters and birds. I killed my first bird, tweety, on accident. We were playing in the hallway and you know how kids are (not paying attention at times) and I squished him with my knee... oh it broke my heart. He would make a sound, his own song, that sounded like a superhero intro or something. Tweety was an awesome pet.
Then we got a new bird that my brother named "B.J."
My very first hampster I named him 'Pudge'. Because it rhymed with my favorite snack at the time, fudge.
I had a dog named Poochie once. She was scared of storms and i went out to feed her in the rain and she had jumped the fence and ran away. I think God let that happen so I wouldn't have to see her dead because we had her since I was about 4 and she ran away when I was 13.
We also had rabbits for a while. I named my girl 'Samantha', because a girl at school which I had a childhood crush on was also named that. We've had other pets but I cannot remember their names.
My brother used to have a turtle and man he was FAST! We let him go in mum's garden one day and we never seen him again. He would bite our fingers but never break the skin. I used to rub his shell and sing and humm nursery rhymes to him.
I love animals!! :-)

Here we go ... I made this avatar for you Alex ! ^^
-------------------------------------------------
Oh nooo ... so sad that story about your first bird ...
... but I prove you right ... as a child coordination isn t perfect and such
tragic accidents happen sometimes.
Tweety is a nice name for a bird ... I like the cartoon char a lot !
Pudge is very cute for a hamster !
Did he live up to his name regarding proportions or did you only like the name ?
Most of the dogs we had hated brooms and vacuum cleaners !
When I was very young and my grandpa was still alive we had some rabbits too but they did not have names .
Wow ... a high-speed turtle sounds funny ! ^^
Sad thing he ranoff and never came back !
I love animals a lot too Alex ! :-D
