Posting poetry

Post by alexanderbrite »

Hey all,

I was wondering if I am allowed to post my poetry here? I have one poem that is totally for children, and then I have two others that are a bit on the horror side but there is no profanity nor violence in them. I just wanted to share some poetry with you all since this is general discussion which, from what I understand, can be about anything.

Write me back with the answer please. No rush though.

Thanks!
Alex

I'd prefer not to read any horror based stuff. ;) Other than that though, I love poetry and write it myself. :)

If you want to share your poetry here with others, that's great... go for it! You might catch some interested new readers along the way! :)

But please keep in mind that this is a PG-13 rated message board, so if for example your works were aimed at an adult-only audience then this would not be a good place to post it. In any case, members have the ability to flag content that they think needs to be reviewed by a staff member.

OH Okay, I'll send my one pg 13 poem. I believe you will like it. The attached picture was what I based my poem on. So... here is the poem:

Take a Ride on the Wide Eyed Turtle's Back

I am your host
I am mellow and yellow
Complete with a top hat and flower
I'll be your host upon the hour
Where the tracks run out
Where the lizards have eyelashes
And you can pick jellybeans from the field
below the castle that glows like a warm summer's morning
Two wolves will howl
upon a mountain of stalagtites and stalagmites
Houses will build themselves of color
One on top of the other...
Dragons gnarl but they don't bite
Tall men joke but they don't fight
Ginormic roses in shape of ladies lips
Reach out to kiss you with no prick

The hour has passed and your tour is over
I shall return to my place of existence
As should you, but remember...
It's only "as far as your fondest hope
and hopefully as near as your sweetest dream"!

(End quote is from Puff the Magic Dragon cartoon, so that part I do not claim as my own work).

Please let me know how you liked or disliked it. Thank you so much!!
Have a good day, all!
Alex

I'll be working on more children's poetry soon. So I'll paste it here when I'm done. Everyone else - feel free to post yours, I'd love to read it! I love poetry!
