Selling my entire Rainbow Brite dolls collection

Post by SunSpire »

Attention RB collectors!

Due to ongoing unemployment (I got fired in september) I am putting up my RB dolls for sale! Most of them I got when I was only 4 years old, so I had them for about 24 years now and they're mostly still in good condition. Obviously me being a guy I don't play with them anymore, but I kept them for nostalgic reasons all this time. Well, now it's time to let go and I thought I'd list them here first before I put them up on ebay.

There are 11 dress up dolls:

Lala Orange
Patty O'Green
Buddy Blue
Red Butler
Indigo
Rainbow Brite (01)
Moonglow (dress missing, just underwear)
Shy Violet
Tickled Pink
Rainbow Brite (02)
Canary Yellow

There are 5 hatful sprites:

Twink
Spark
Lucky
Romeo
Champ

And there is also: (pictures will follow!)

large Twink sprite
Murky Dismal

That's 18 items in total. I will be posting pictures and details about their individual condition shortly. I will only sell this collection as a whole, no seperate sales I'm afraid. I will be selling worldwide and the ebay auction would be on Ebay US unless there are people from the UK who are interested.

Due to the age of the dolls they do have a few smaller issues. Some of the clothe's threads and the bodies / hair may have become a little fuzzy and clothes start to unravel here and there. With a bit of attention most of these can probably be fixed somehow. The dolls may also have some marks on their faces but nothing too serious. Please see additional comments above each picture for additional information!!

Overall the dolls are all in good, played-with condition but they are neither dirty nor smelly as they were taken care of rather well.

Please post all your questions etc. below and watch this space for updates and more new pictures!!

Lala Orange:
Perfect condition, no issues whatsoever.

Patty O'Green:
Very good condition, no issues but the bright green has faded a bit.
The hair bands are not original but match the green color.

Buddy Blue:
Good condition, however he's got some grey bits on his body (as seen in picture)
Replacement hairband with star from Gale (StarStealer, a former board member)

Red Butler:
Very good condition, but his freckles have mostly faded away.

Image

Indigo:
Okay condition. Her hair has been cut in places (what was I thinking as a child? :P )
so it appears to be shorter than usual. Her pants keep sliding down as the elastic band
to hold them up is overstretched quite a bit. Her dress up top is curled up and its age
is clearly visible. I'm sure doll lovers can make up a perfect replacement tho.

Rainbow Brite (01):
Very good condition. This is probably my favorite doll (along with Patty O'Green)
Even comes with the rainbow hair-band, tho it probably doesn't have as much
colors on it as it used to. The color belt's star is peeling off a bit.

Moonglow:
Perfect condition, however her dress is missing. (Never found it on ebay)

Shy Violet:

Tickled Pink:

Canary Yellow:
Good condition. Dress a bit fuzzy on the back, but otherwise great.

Oh no! I know exactly what you are talking about. It seem that nowadays with the economy falling apart, ebay is definitely a buyer's market! Things sell very cheap a bit everywhere, not just for rainbow brite stuff. Maybe you should have sold them separately or with a reserve or buy it now price. Well I guess if it was an emergency it is good you have some money now :)

I needed the money really fast that's why I didn't sell the individuallym cos it's a lot of work and also shipping costs would have been the killer. The post office actually wanted 33 pounds from me for the parcel I was going to ship to italy, and that was the cheapest option!! All because I went just a tiny little bit over 2 kilos, they told me to send it in 2 smaller parcels each less than 2 kilos, and saved 15 pounds that way, crazy!

I had a Buy It Now price but with european ebay accounts - if someone bids on your item the Buy It Now disappears. Sucks cos you still get charged for it at the end of the auction. Ebay is no fun these days :P

Anyway, looks like I'll be able to pay my rent for november ... just!! .. thanks to selling the dolls "whew"
