Sample IQ Sprites from Toy Play?

I didn't see this auction until after it had ended (of course! lol), but is it just me, or do these look like sample IQ Sprites from Toy Play?

The legs and arms look vintage, but the faces and fur remind me of the Toy Play Sprites. The only description is that they're "non genuine" but the one tag that's shown says that it is a Sample doll. It's hard to tell size from the pics, but I'd say they look larger too. Any ideas? And if they are samples, how did they end up in Australia?

So actually there is this Chinese company that makes VERY good knock off plushies (for vending/fair/claw machines?)- and their tags also say SAMPLE-

I've seen (and bought) some Strawberry Shortake ones- and MLP. They look totally legit. But they are not actually licensed toys. It wouldn't surprise me if they made some RBB sprites too- although this is the first time I've seen them.

Knock offs these days are WAY better than they were in the 80s-

Interesting! Do the tags on the dolls you have look exactly the same as the tag shown on these? The reason I ask is that I have a sample 18" Toy Play Canary Yellow with hand-painted eyes that has the exact same tri-s tag on it.

Pretty cool! I haven't dug out my SSC stuff in a while- so I can't confirm if the tag was identical-

The sprites are super cute :D
