It s an extremely good thing to have strange taste .. this makes it interesting and gives spice to it !!! :-D
I also watched a lot of Shin-chan episodes when it was aired in German television ....
Lol ... this was so snotty and in places also twisted ... I don t know how the english dubbing is but the German one was a little like : " I can t believe what they are talking about ... this is sooooo daring !!! "
I bust a gut !!! ;-)))))))))))))))))))))
The art-style is a very nice manga/anime-persiflage but also quite ugly ! XD ;-) :-))))))
Magical-girl parodies are entertaining too ... the most ridiculous thing about magical girls is that the villains could easily defeat them all while they are transforming ... it lasts and lasts and lasts ...and when the last cherry blossom is flown away there still comes a ludicrous conflict-announcement ...
I will now throw deadly daisis (shrill squeak) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X-D
Despite everything I always loved such stuff ... so cute and gloriously foolish !!! :-D

Not every German dubbing is bad ... but sadly there are some very bad ones also ! ;-)
I noticed that the Germans say that their dubbings are soooo bad and the people from england say that their dubbing is also very bad and so on ... it s always the best thing when you watch the original ... sadly when it comes to animes you have to read the sub-title because lets be honest ... who understands japanese( very difficult language ) !? ;-)
The silly animations are sometimes also annoying for me when it is so extreme like in the sequence you quoted ! But all in all this does not destroy the complete fun I have while watching Doremi ! ;-)
This silly animations are corny but I think the japanese will never ever change their ways of producing cartoons/Animes ! :-)))))))))))
Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar ... I did not know this .... very cute ... have to search for more of this !!! ;-D

Shin-chan was dubbed in the US to be crude and with a lot of pop culture references we'd recognize. It's still crude in the Japanese version, but the cultural references are different. I've watched both and both are still enjoyable to me. The same people who dubbed Shin-chan here are now doing Sgt. Frog, which isn't on the same level as Shin-chan, but it's got a lot of humor in it and still popculture references.Tom-sprite wrote:@ Chibi :

Yes, very true about the magical girl thing or any sort of transformation sequence. The thing with Angol Mois is that if they miss, they'd be toast. She uses Armageddon for her attack, which is meant to be able to destroy the earth at full power. She can use fractional quantities, such as Armageddon 1/10000. She's based on the Lord of Terror that Nostradamus predicted would visit Earth and destroy the planet. Except, she ended up coming 500 years too early. So she took a nap in space, and when she woke up, she was 5 years too late! XD
And the comment about dubs in German: Dubs are always going to be pertained as bad I think. Everyone enjoys the original best, which is why it's a good thing that companies will include the dub and sub versions on released DVDs. I do enjoy the dub for Fate/stay night. It does stay pretty true to it's original and doesn't cut any scenes or rearrange them to be something else.

The art throws you off? It is a different style if that is what you mean and it is post 1999 (ran along with digimon and same studio). Obviously the animation is dated >.>. Toei are the animators of Sailor Moon and Dragon all Z and so forth. Toei is keeping up with the magical trend since sailor moon had ended creating their own creations like doremi, nadja and pre-cure. Toei isn't really recognized for their high quality animation but rather their history.
Doremi is a very well known shojo series that ran before that terrible Pretty Cure (same studio) we have now going on to 7 seasons, yes 7 0_0. I'm a huge fan of Ojamajo Doremi since around 2000. The show has alot more heart than what people see. It is a fantastic show, I'm surprised to see others not finding the heart in it as I did. I deals with family issues and issues that classmates have. It is also heartwarming and silly at times too. The best to watch would be Ojamajo Doremi Naisho which is sub titled in english dealing with stories close to each character of the show.
I think since many here liked Rainbow as a kid we enjoy it but if it came out now perhaps some of us would not like it, since it is a children's show.
Fate/ Stay night isn't a shonen by any means...sorry had to laugh there ^-^". And for a good adpation I think fans would beg to differ, as they are re-releasing the series with added bits and re-doing a few things. But I'm not a type-moon fan I prefer KEY over them.

A thought I had a while ago was that the magical girl transformations are actually slowed down when we're seeing them. I remember some shows where they transformed in an instant ( I think they even did this in Sailor Moon a few times), instead of doing the whole transformation sequence. I think that explains it. The whole thing only lasts a moment and when they show it as it's happening, it's slowed down.Tom-sprite wrote:

It's kinda funny. Some of my favorite magical girls wouldn't have to worry about the villain doing anything like that since they didn't really have villains. A lot of older (pre-Sailor Moon) magical girls didn't have villains or fight. They used their magic either to help people or sometimes for the sake of the story (there are too many examples to get into there). Minky Momo, Creamy Mami, and Floral Magician Marybell are great examples of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWOt5zXJKwc
I'd still enjoy it if it came out now. Of course I have no problem watching kids shows.*C9* wrote:I think since many here liked Rainbow as a kid we enjoy it but if it came out now perhaps some of us would not like it, since it is a children's show.
Oh wait....there is a new version of Rainbow Brite coming out and hey, I'm all for it.

I was going based off the anime with the shonen bit. I'm well aware of the visual novel and it's eroge nature, and how the anime cuts out or changes particular scenes, as well as adapts from other routes. I've played through some of it (the Fate route), and still have the rest to work through. As a stand-alone the anime is fine. I never said that it was a good adaptation for what it's based off of. The series is constantly built upon outside of the anime world with the various other games and visual novels, and I am interested to see how the movie turns out that comes out next year.*C9* wrote:The art throws you off? I was just checking to see if anyone checked this out? The first season is just Ojamjo Doremi, second is Ojamajo Doremi #, Mo-tto Ojamajo Doremi and Ojamajo Doremi Dokkan,. The 13 OVA episodes take place in third season but can be watched as stand alone.
I was hoping someone here saw it and wasn't turned off by the art. I am a huge anime fan and this is one of the best magical girl shows I have seen. It has alot of heart and has even made me cry a few times.
A few of thefirst season are subbed and they are almost finished with season 2 there are about 200 episodes in total ^^" but it is a very fun a and cute show.

Like I said the first time I posted, I would probably love this show. I plan to watch it, but haven't yet. It's on my must watch list and is also a priority since it looks so cute. Cuteness takes priority in my anime viewing.
