Try this. It's rather freeing to write out and see. I put it in my journal last night. Simply start with "I am judged..." and finish the statement. I'll start.
I am judged....
by my appearance: I look 14 and am usually judged to be a teenager with all the stigma behind it
by my interests: Anime is apparently looked down on
by my collections: I collect figures, dolls, and toy items
by my sexual orientation: which could cost me my job if others found out
by my sensitivity: Because I cry easier than others, my arguments are never taken seriously
by my sex: I can't do the same things as guys apparently like work in a factory, cause I might be too girly
by my experience: I'm not worth as much because I haven't done the job as long as others
by what I can do for others: If I can fix it or give an answer, I'm perfect. If not, I'm worthless
Edit: (Cause people don't seem to get the point) The idea behind this thread is not whether you care or not about being judged or to get sympathy from anyone. The point is to lay out how you are judged and why.

Re: Judgement
In the world's eyes everything that makes you special is wrong. For all the good things are made bad, and the bad made good. Or is it that people are too dense to look past their own noses?
I hate people who are too stupid to see the good in anyone. Who judge others without having walked a mile in their shoes. For all the things you are judge for Rachy are what make you such a unquie and interesting person.

Re: Judgement
Err it was just a thing for people to do, really. I went more in depth with it in my livejournal. I never said that I felt bad because of being judged. I wasn't really asking for sympathy.Wolf Ranger wrote:In the world's eyes everything that makes you special is wrong. For all the good things are made bad, and the bad made good. At my age, I'm long past caring what anybody thinks of me (not that I ever gave it much thought anyway).

Re: Judgement
I've always been judged to be the loner, the wierdo, the outsider, because my hobbies, interests, and attitudes are not on the bell curve of what's expected. Even my parents tried to make me conform. They found my passive resistance frustrating, but it wouldnt have happened if they had left me alone about my social life.
But being left alone simply wasn't an option, and I hated that.
Fighting with clinical depression for the last 15 years just reinforced my attitude as a loner. Except for my wife, I have no friends where I live (to offset that, I DO know a lot of people). But nobody I particularly care to hang out with.

Re: Judgement
Human being judge each other. It's what we do. I'm sure if I actually sat and thought hard about it, my list would be much, much longer. Interesting thread - thanks, Chibi Rachy.
I am judged....
by my appearance: I look like I'm still in high school; being carded to see R-rated films is no fun.
by my careers (past and present): as a geologist, I was too feminine. As a teacher, I'm "not maternal enough".
by the size of my paycheck: people tend to associate personal worth with amounts of money.
by my hobbies: anime/manga are "childish" for someone my age, apparently.
by my collections: I collect anime cels and happily spend hundreds on what some studios consider trash.
by my relationship status: apparently I'm weird because I'm not married and currently not dating anyone
by where I've been: last time I came back to the States from Canada, I was stopped at our border for a long time simply because I have a tourist visa for China in my passport. As well as visas/stamps for other "suspect" countries like Egypt and Venezuela. I like to travel. Sue me.
by my complexion: just because I have auburn hair and freckles does not mean I am Irish! I'm not!
by my weight: well, if Ralph Lauren can fire fashion models for weighing 120lbs., consider me way past due for a pink slip.
by my experience: Almost all employers ask for 1-5 years experience. But if everyone requires it, where am I supposed to get those 1-5 years?
by my level of education: only in America do we view intelligent people as 'the enemy'
by the books I read: my friends have a hard time reconciling the fact that while I read Pulitzer prize winning authors and textbooks for fun, I also have a whole collection of romance novels in my basement

Re: Judgement
Really good thread Rachy!
I am judged...
By my appearance: I'm 25 but look 18. Its weird, I get carded when I buy alcohol, but I never get carded in Vegas.
By interest: I live for watching 80s cartoons, collecting 80s cartoon items, and I love anything disney. I pretty much live at Disneyland
By my skin color: I'm basically a "mutt" ethincity wise so people never know what I am. So when they do happen to ask me, they ask with a weird, disgusted look on their face.
By my ethnicity: People assume just because I'm half Mexican, that means I'm here in the States illegally and my family doesn't speak english. ALL of my family and relatives were born in California
By my ethnicity: Mexicans from Mexico believe that I am a disgrace to the Mexican culture for not beening able to speak spanish. I'm too American for them.
By my weight: I'm 107 lbs. Automatically that means food is my enemy. Its not. I've been skinny my whole life.
By my sex: No one thought that a small girl like me could work in a machine shop making air plane parts. Well, I did, for 3 years.

I am judged...
by my appearence : I am very light-skinned and people in Germany mostly are devoted to tanning-cult...
by my profession : I am a studied visual artist and people often let me get the feeling that they think I will never be successful ...
by my extreme sensitivity : I have very oversensitive antennae and often people appear rude to me

Re: Judgement
Let's see what am I usually judged by?
My taste in cartoons: I prefer the cute, girly, sweet stuff. This goes for anime as well. There's a particular charm to it that nothing else has. (I'd like to add that I'm not trying to use a gender stereotype by saying 'girly'. It's just the word I've known to use.)
My distaste for violence: I can't stand watching bad things happen to people (or animals). If my friends and I are hanging out and watching a violent show or movie, I will go do something else if it gets too bad.
My sex: I'm a guy. When people discover the above things, there are varied reactions. Many not so nice.
My morals: I have different morals. Some of the things that I feel are innocent or acceptable, others may deem indecent.
