Rainbow Brite Cake

Post by Clinozoisite »

I mentioned in my birthday thread that I would post photos of my cake here. I wasn't sure whether it belonged in "Custom" or "Gen Discussion", so mods can feel free to move this thread. :)

The cake is made using the RB cake pan by Wilton. It can be found on eBay for usually less than $10 USD.

I made this cake at my aunt's house using inappropriate cake-decorating tools. I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did. Look at the size of the butter knife I'm using to decorate it! O_o I also mixed my own frosting, which is why the colors are a bit...off.

I did not put any candles on the cake, since I'm old enough* that they would probably cover the entire surface. And possibly light the house afire.

The discussion would go in either the "Rainbow Brite" section, or even the "Customs" section if you like.

Bravo on the icing. Very good work. :)

So cute :) You did a great job with it. I've always wanted to get the cake pan and try my hand at it too.

I have wanted to see how a cake in that pan would turn out, it looks better that I can do. I hate cooking as it always turns out wrong. I made a batch of brownies and burned all of the outer edge but 2 inches in the center. I was put in charge of cooking for my family tonight and over cooked/over peppered the chicken gumbo. I made potato soup, but under cooked the potatoes and over cooked the meat in it (sorry if I wandered off topic, but this is the BEST JOB I HAVE EVER SEEN)

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad my cake decorating skills meet with your approval. I am very happy that I bought this cake pan a few years back at a yard sale. :)

The key to getting the cake to keep its shape and not stick to the pan: baking Pam spray (it has flour in it, or something)
