Possible new info on dolls?

Post by Aquamarine »

It looks like at the Dallas Toy Fair, Playmates released a 2010 product summary. They mentioned Rainbow Brite and it seems like they gave more detail about the toy line.

RAINBOW BRITE - Make the World a Brighter Place & Come to Rainbow Land
Millions of moms who became inspired by Rainbow Brite's cheerful persona in the 80's can now share their favorite childhood friend with their little girls. RAINBOW BRITE blasts back on the doll scene with a vibrant makeover and an online playground, continuing to delight children with her empowering and imaginative adventures as she spreads her positive messages of courage, kindness, and hope! Rainbow always makes your your world a little brighter, especially with her new animated webisodes, online activities and games premiering at www.rainbowbrite.com starting this October 2009 with new dolls from Playmates Toys following in spring 2010!. The newest fashion doll collection is led by RAINBOW BRITE herself and flanked by her two loyal friends Moonglow and Tickled Pink. These gorgeous 10" DELUXE DOLLS sport signature Rainbow fashions with magical accessories in the belt, cuffs and really cool boots! Rainbow Brite and friends can also experience whimsical adventures with their companion horse friends; Starlite, Shimmer and Sunriser. Both the dolls and their horses feature long, colorful hair for endless hours of hair play. The larger iconic 15" Rainbow Brite doll brings the warmth and nurturing play pattern of Rainbow to the younger fans and the adorable Sprite friends appear. They are colorful, cute and cuddly with an endearing little magical tinkle. Make the World a Brighter Place and come to Rainbowland. United Media, a leading independent licensing and syndication company, has been working with long-time partner Hallmark to build a licensing program in support of Rainbow Brite.
It looks like there's:

10" Rainbow Brite
10" Moonglow
10" Tickled Pink
- Starlite, Shimmer, and Sunriser in proportion for the 10" dolls

15" Rainbow Brite

Sprites - unknown size, but it sounds like they're soft (since they're cuddly) and make a sound (the "magical tinkle" part) and it sounds like there will be more than one (probably will be the main 3)

It mentions they'll be out in Spring 2010, but I really hope it's sooner than that. I'm so excited to see them!

It also mentions the main website. I guess webisodes implies that there will be more than what's already up, and they'll be similar in quality. On the bright side, this probably means that if they do make a new cartoon it'll be much higher in quality than the webisodes. Unfortunately, starting out with webisodes might mean they won't make a new cartoon unless the toy line is popular enough.
A smile is just a rainbow away.

Fashion dolls, huh? So hard-bodied like Barbie with similar hair? For some reason I was thinking they'd be plush bodied.

Anyone know how the joints in these dolls will be? Can they be put in different posses?

Also I can overlook the animation with a decent story, so I'm hoping what we have no is just a teaser and will be fleshed out later.

Also new Starlight voice, please. >_<

If the Rainbow Brite fashion dolls will be like the other Playmates fashion dolls, then they'll probably be like the Tinkerbell ones: http://playmatestoys.com/disneyfairies/ ... hiondolls/

The Playmates 15" Tinkerbell doll is a hard-bodied doll, so there's a chance the RB one will be hard-bodied too.

I was hoping the dolls would be plush ones too, but we won't know for sure until we see some actual photos of the new dolls.

This is getting more exciting, I love logging on and finding new info on the toys. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

The only thing is the delay. Spring? Could that mean that they can come out even later than January?

Ugh not more terrible animation/voice acting with new webisodes.

And I caught the delay thing as well. From holiday to January and now to spring. That doesn't seem very good at all.

Well, the Disney Fairies and 2006 Strawberry Shortcake had a few plush-bodied, plastic head dolls that look about 10 inches tall. The only different outfit variant I have seen on Tink is the white dandelion dress she arrived to Pixie Hollow in. However, Strawberry has gone from Winter Berry Twist to Beach Sweety to even baby doll. Let's hope the dolls look like the current redesign....

Do any of you know of other cartoons that had webisodes as opposed to actual cartoon episodes? Something we can compare to?

I'm not so sure about the delay. The January timeline came straight from Playmates, so I would believe that over a third party article.
