The Mouse and His Child

Post by FanChan »

I watched this movie a lot as a kid. For the past few years, I've thought of it now and again and pined for it, never being able to think of its name to be able to search for it. Finally, a friend of mine was able to stumble across it. It was released in 1977, ten whole years before I was even born. It's a very bizzare film, to say the least, but it was truly magical and quite frightening to me, and I loved it dearly. It was truly one of the influences that shaped my imagination.

"You still doubt me, after all this time?"
"I don't doubt," Krys said as he paused at the door. "I worry."

Aww I really like this movie! I had never heard of it before but that was rather touching. I love watching different types of animation. :)

A bit dark in parts, though. I don't think I would have liked it as a child, but now that I'm an adult I can appreciate these things.

It totally creeped me out when I was little, but that's one of the reasons it stuck with me for so long. A lot of stories for kids back in the day had a lot of darkness to them, and frankly I wish there was more of that in animation today, but that's just me.

I'm glad you liked it, though ^_^ It really is quite unique, isn't it? I love the dialogue between the father and son at times. "I don't know, son. I wish I knew, son. Me, too, son." Hehe.

Yeah I liked some darkness to my movies as a kid as well. BUt more I think I was into really epic adventures. Heroes on a quest with villain to defeat. This movie seemed like it had some deep metaphors embedded. As a kid I wouldn't have been able to follow. XD

Well, yeah xD I didn't follow them much, either, as a kid. But there are deeper themes to a lot of movies I watched as a kid that I didn't get 'till I was older xD
