Anyone here check out the new Strawberry Shortcake movie, Sky's the Limit ? I just purchased it a few days ago and have watched it twice so far.
Personally, I was quite satisfied with it. One thing to keep in mind is that this is the third reality so far, so it's a different take on Strawberry and friends. It has a bit of an oldschool look and feel to it, but more modern at the same time. Plus they're tiny in this reality.
The film feels more like it was made to be an entertaining cartoon than an educational one, but there's still that educational element. Still it manages to be entertaining without villians. I know a lot of people have been wanting villians in re-vamps of old cartoons, but I say give it a chance.
Not to mention this new re-vamp on the property has what I think are the cutest character designs so far. This may very well be my favorite incarnation of the series, and that's coming from someone who grew up with the original.
Whoever the animation studio is, I like what they're doing. I know I would definitely trust them with the new Rainbow Brite if it were to get a cartoon.

I would love to own this movie. Moonscoop is the animator shown in the Berry Grand Opening DVD ending, so I'm guessing they made it. Hasbro is making the new toys and I think Orange is cutest. (could be that I have her eyes and hair) I have tried to use an avatar of Orange here

Re: The new SSC movie
I found my copy of the movie at Wal-Mart, I'm sure if you checked one in your area you may find it there. It just came out a week ago, so that might explain it.
That's a nice collection you have going. I take it that the Berry Grand Opening DVD is the one that comes with the Strawberry figure? How is it? I remember seeing that on the shelves at work and saying "Hey, one of the new SSC figures comes with a DVD"
I can't decide who I think is the cutest, They're just all so cute.
edit: Now that I think about it, it may be a close call between Blueberry and Raspberry for me.

The Berry Grand Opening DVD does come with Strawberry mini. I read it is about the same thing as the first 10-12 minutes of Sky's the Limit, but the Goodies To Go Scooter and Pupcake are slipped in somewhere in Sky's the Limit. I fell of the couch laughing about the fact Custard only meows, Raspberry is allergic to fake flowers, the Berrykins don't listen to Strawberry too well and Custard is a lemon clown for about five minutes because of the berrykins.

Interesting. I can confirm most of what you've read. Pupcake is definitely in the movie. I think the reason for Custard not talking in this version is that she didn't in the original. I remember reading somewhere that the idea was for this version be a little like the original but modern at the same time. I don't remember any mention of Raspberry's allergy in the movie, nor do I remember the Custard clown scene. Perhaps another re-watch is in order.WishBear2001 wrote:The Berry Grand Opening DVD does come with Strawberry mini. No worries. So, they are two different things. That's cool.WishBear2001 wrote:sorry, I mixed up Berry Grand Opening and Sky's the Limit
Oh yeah. You were right, Custard does talk in Pets on Parade. I completely forgot about that.
Ultra cute choice of avatar BTW.
