I'm sure at least a few of you have seen the commercials for this by now, but I thought I'd post about it anyway for anyone who hasn't heard.
Hayao Miyazaki (creator of Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, etc) has finished his next film, one of three he's been working on. It's called Ponyo, and it's about a little goldfish that goes on an adventure to become human. If you're absolutely tired of all of the computer generated, non-cell-shaded Disney flicks, this little film will be a breath of fresh air to tide you over until the Princess and the Frog.
There are also going to be a couple of rather interesting voice actors in the film. Miley Cyrus' little sister, Noah Cyrus, will have her debut in this, and the little brother of the Jonas Brothers, Frankie Jonas, will also be in this as his second film voice acting. Among the other big-name voice actors are Tina Fey, Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, and Cate Blanchett.
It comes out on the 14th in theaters, and I highly recommend going to see it. Anything Miyazaki makes is well worth the $6-10 ticket.

Oh good, no 3D gives me a break for Tinker Bell 2, Share Bear Shines, Sky's The Limit and Angelina Ballerina.

I've already seen it like last month....It isn't really as epic and as his other works or the others Ghibili has produced. It does reminds me more along the lines of Totoro if anything. I do like this movie I like it much better than some of the othe Ghibli movies *cough* Pom Poko I'm looking at you (epic fail)

I actually saw this last year in Tokyo. It was good, but if you're expecting something to top 'Howl's Moving Caste' or 'Spirited Away', your hopes are up way too high. Ponyo's something completely new, fresh and unique in its own way. It reminded me a lot of 'Totoro' because of the story's simplicity, which I really admire.
I've bought the single of the Ponyo theme song. Nozomi Ohashi is ADORABLE.

That means that Disney has left his print somehow eh eh!

I still enjoy Totoro, and I'm sure anyone who still loves Rainbow would love it. Just because it's not a high-octane action flick doesn't mean it can't be entertaining and epic in its own way. That's one of Miyazaki's talents with kids' films - look at Kiki, or Sherlock Hound, even Future Boy Conan was pretty whimsical.

I wouldn't say howl's moving castle is something to top. It wasn't that good if you were a book fan or not, the story did not piece together well. It was alright and was decent but not amazing.
As for Tales of Earth Sea, it is better than Howl in some terms. Some things would not make sense unless you read the book. Then some things were changed so much no one would notice. Which brings me to when do those terrible sci-fi rights run out?
As well I wasn't saying just because it isn't epic it wasn't good. In comparison to his other movies it is not what you expect. His movies aren't really kids films...depending on the country...

Okay, that was officially the most adorable movie I have ever seen *-* I can't wait 'till it comes out on dvd now. I had to drive an hour to go see it, but it was well worth it.

Which cities already have Ponyo?
