Just a thought whilst chatting randomly with Marco this evening, but was talking about Facebook and how it allows us to keep in touch with people all over etc etc
I have a few members from various message boards on my friend list and chat as easily on there as i would on the boards themselves. But it got me thinking
Has anyone ever been in touch with the older forum members on it seen as though it wasn't around back in the days of this board being heavy in traffic..
Like for example.. Moonglobabe, Iamragdolly, EvilChristina, TMarie.. they are all on there but is there anyone else that went missing?
And would they remember their time here if they were to be found on the vast world of facebook? like for example EvilC was only 11/12 when she was here back in the day, now shes like 17/18.. makes me feel old... lol
Is facebook vital these days for keeping in touch with people? Do people msn as much these days? Email? Pick up a phone (local peops not so much internet friends cos calls are costly)
Am i making sense? lol

I'd say facebook has contributed a great deal to diminishing the fame of public message boards, like this one. Also the fact that people are getting older and move on in life to face new challenges, has reshaped our community many times over the years, with many members leaving and some of them rejoining.
There are a lot of old members who used to be regulars here, which suddenly disappeared and left us wonder what happened? But chances are they simply moved on in search for their own way of life ... or are they still lurking around?

yes of course everyone getting older contributres to it, but saying that facebook has allowed us to find people we went to school with and chat online to them again (the ones we want to anyhow) lol
So surely a 'RB reunion' on Facebook isn't totally unrealistic bearing the school link in mind...

I don't think there's anyone from school that I'd ever want to meet again!! "shudders by the thought of it"

I've been out of school for something like 45 years. I can hardly remember any of my classmates' names anymore.

I don't use Facebook, or any public networking site. I'm not one for trusting all of that info on the 'net, privacy settings or not, mostly because I don't want students stumbling on to certain bits of info about me. It's nothing bad, but it's not very good for a conservation Christian area either.
As for the school remarks, can't say I keep in touch with any of my classmates from high school or college, and I doubt I'll keep in touch with people I meet once I start grad school in September.

I have a Facebook page. I visit it...oh, probably a dozen times a year.
It's nice for grabbing quick information about people, like e-mail addresses or telephone numbers. But I certainly don't use it on a daily (or hourly!) basis like some folks seem to. Maybe this is because I still keep track of a number of friends on LiveJournal.
My undergraduate college was one of the first 10 schools on Facebook, back when it was still in its beta testing phase. It was a lot different back then, before anyone could get an account. Now, it just seems so weird having my relatives send me friend requests...

I keep up with a lot of old friends via FB. For instance, there's a He-Man forum that I used to be an avid poster on. I rarely visit it these days, but haven't lost touch with my good friends from that forum because of FB. I've got some old-timey RB fans as friends there too Along with people from elementary/middle/high school and college. It's cool
