I know this has been out for quite a while now, but has anyone seen the new film by Spike Jonze? Found it pretty depressing, and I don't usually say that much about movies. Did anyone here read the children's book as a child? Share us your thoughts on the book/movie. Image

I definitely read the book when I was a kid. I really liked it, but the only time I could read it was at school. I could never find it at the public library. I never got a chance to see the movie. I wanted to so bad, to be able to compare the two. But everyone I know that saw the movie, said it was really good.

I know the book well and I think I've used it in Energy Express lessons when I did work there in past summers, but I've not seen the movie. Like RB84, I've heard it to be pretty good from others. I don't think I've heard any huge complaints about it.

Go see it if it's still out in your nearest cinema. It's a brilliant film. All the Wild Things were designed from Jim Henson's Workshop (not so much CGI therefore) and the actor playing Max is absolutely fabulous.

It's been a LONG while since I read the book. So my knowledge of it is very vague. I've heard some complaints of how the film, in parts, deviates from the book (possibly a complaint from fan boys/fan girls). I've heard some parents saying that the film was too scary, too boring, too depressing, or too dark for their children. Possibly a mixture of everything. I'm not sure how the book was like...did it seem too dark in anyway for kids?
