Comparisons of the different DVD sets?

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of importing one of the many DVD releases of Rainbow Brite for my niece, but there's a problem in that in my experience, they all have one problem or another.
From what I remember (correct me if any of this is wrong)
* the Australian DVD set is missing the episode "Peril in the Pits"
* the British DVDs (Which are volumes, not a set) use the post-movie version of the opening and ending theme for every episode, including the pre-movie ones. I'd prefer each episode to have its actual original opening and ending.
* The german DVDs use edited versions of the episodes which are actually missing footage (there's a video on youtube which compares them against the old VHS release to demonstrate where content is missing).
So my question basically comes down to: Do ANY of the DVDs have the correct openings (or at least, feature the original "Rainbow Brite! See the shining light!" opening/ending theme as a bonus feature)? And are the British and Australian DVDs completely uncut? Or am I better off just hunting down the old VHS releases and putting them through a VHS to DVD recorder?
