The Fan Art Contest!
[rev. Feb 1 2009]

Is there a piece of Fan Art you want to see? Characters dressed certain ways? BUT you don't know how to draw? That's not a problem this year! From now to the launch of the new Rainbow Brite Dolls, we are having a Rainbow Brite Fan Art contest! You suggest the art, and it is drawn for you!
Best ideas get a prize!

Here is how it works: (Rules and entries subject to change based on feedback)

Sign up on the Rainbow Brite Forums and post what YOU would like to see!

Top 5 ideas are voted on by you. Drawings are posted (as created, depending on artists availability), and featured on the site and message board (and where else the artist wishes to post it)

At the end of the year, a poll will be run featuring the art. Best IDEA gets a prize!

Prizes:

At this time prizes are vintage collectibles. We WILL add more prizes as they become available.
Rainbow Brite Colouring books (Vintage, new/unused condition)
Rainbow Brite Twin Size bed cover (Vintage, Like new, lightly used)

Here is a sample of an entry:

Fan Art Entry Sample Theme
Princess Pout
Image

The Princess as a small child, dressed pretty for all you lovely people. Not a pastel wearing kind of girl, she doesn't seem to like this photo shoot much, but her faithful Pet Jewel is with her to keep her company.

Smile!....or maybe not....

Drawn By: Cody Coleman
Entry Requested by: RainbowBriteUK
(Note: this entry not eligable for contest)

Hey! I was wondering if maybe I could help with the art? Not sure what your ratio of artists to non-artists around here is.
"I hope you know what you're doing, Rainbow."
"You still doubt me, after all this time?"
"I don't doubt," Krys said as he paused at the door. "I worry."

This makes me feel a bit better:
No aging characters to adults, however adult characters as children are good.
so does this:
Character behaviors requests okay. no rude gestures.
Clothing requests are okay, no rude clothing (bikinis, suggestive poses, etc) We are dealing with children.
Just thought I'd give feedback that I'm happy with those rules. :)

I think that rules silly to be honest, why are you allowed to do it one way but not another?

And why put restrictions on someones artisitic inspirations... ok so i understandt the no revealing clothes etc etc.. but whatever...
JoeyAngel,
I'm sorry if felt this rule restricted you. It was suggested based on the feedback.

I have removed the age restriction.

Sorry if anyone else was offended.

aw, so now I'm gonna have to see a ton of adult rainbow brite characters in the fan art contest? Now I'm probably going to feel the need to avoid it... :( :( :(

not that they're offensive, but I don't have taste for them, so it would make the contest not very fun if that was most of what was being drawn... ah well, I hope there's other stuff too. :)

I asked about this in the other thread in relation to the idea I presented, and was told that all suggestions are taken as non-aged unless the person suggesting the idea specifies they want them aged

It seems to me there are plenty of people here who prefer to see them as they were, so I wouldn't worry about having too many aged pictures. I'm hoping for a lot of non-aged ones, too; I'm training myself as quickly as I can to draw them well *-*

Sarah, there shouldn't be any more confusion. The "age" restriction was removed. However all entries will be "children" unless requested to be aged.

If you need something clarified, just ask.
Thank you!
