Hi guys.
4 and 14 are often declared as the most interesting German story tapes of rainbow brite so I decided to start with a translation for tape no. 4.
Highly likely my translation will be slow but I hope I can add new parts from time to time. Depends if I have enough free time.
My plan is :
5 minutes of tape = one post ( will be edited quite often cause I ll do 1 minute blocks )

OK ... here we go !

Tape 4

"Rainbow brite" and the end of the rainbow

(theme)

Directly under the rainbow painter "Stubbs" flounced around.
("Stups" is only a name with no specific meaning but it can mean :nudge, push, shove ...
there is also the so called "Stupsnase" which means "snub nose or upturned nose")
He was a tall and thin man wearing tiny glasses on his nose and he did not only carry
brush and paints with him but also a goat which he coloured blue, green and red and
a parrot which originally was white but now had a blue and a red wing and kelly-green tail feathers.

(Sounds:) bleating of the goat, whistling made by the painter, rustling (grass)

Time: 1:00

painter Stups :
(playful and cheerful)

Sooo ... and this flower "green" !
greeen, greeen, greeen so greeen so green so green (sing-song)
ahahahaha ( laughter ) ( bleating in the background )
These green colour crystals are better than all of my other paints.
ehehehehe ( short pleased laughter )

Parrot "Dora" :
( cawing )

Green like the grass !!!

painter Stups :
( uneasy )

Green like the grass ? Geez! What have I just done ?
( sounds of galloping in the background )
But the flowers may not be green.
"Dora" I am such a fool !

Parrot "Dora" :
( cawing )

fool ... dork ... brush ... blob !!!

painter Stups :
( a little exhorting )

woe-woe-woe my dear "Dora" ... I ve to ask for a little more respect !
welladay ... I let well enough alone these flowers !
Hee ( quick chuckling laughter ) How do I think about that then ???
magnificent ... really magnificent ... what a great green ... hahaha ( laughter )
(bleating in the background)
I think I am a genius !

(Incidentally Rainbow and Twink appear on the back of starlite which the listener could ve guessed cause of the galloping-sound in the background )

Twink : Ohgod-ohgod-ohgod !!! All is green !!! ( bleating )

Rainbow : Hello! What are you doing there?

Time : 2:00

Sorry if anyone should be interested in reading more.
Sunspire and Rainbow Brite UK contacted me and told me that they think my translation of tape 4
collides with the story tape project ... so I ve to stop now.

I ll try to translate the tape privately and will hand over the translation to sunspire.
So tape 4 can be set to music sometime.
Cross fingers for me ... hope I have enough free time ! ^^

Yeah, welcome aboard the team! :)

I very much appreciate your effort tom-sprite and I want you to know that!! And while everyone else will have to wait a bit longer tho, it'll blow them away once they get to hear and read the final result! ;)

Plus, it's great to have a 2nd native german speaker for this project, this will hopefully speed things up considerably! Thanks again!!

No problem ... it s funny to go through the tape/text and translate.
Reminds me so much of the time when I listened to this tape in the 80s. :-)))
Hope I find a lot of free time for this translation. ;-)
It s somehow a little intimidating to see the amount of text you get out of only one minute tape. :-))))))))))

no kidding! ... that's partly the reason why I had put it off so many times in the past. But life's been a crazy one for sure so I guess that's understandable. What's worse is that many particular situations in the story cannot be translated 1:1 as they would simply lose all meaning to them. So in the few occasions that I DID work on the tapes I got stuck trying to figure out how to word certain things.

I hope all the people who showed their interest in voicing the characters in the 2nd tape are still up to it. I shall send out the transcripts ASAP so we can get this going again!

I managed to translate 25% of tape 4 by now !
Ten minutes ! :-D The script has 13 pages ...
Three times this amount of work again and I am through ! ^^
I had a lot of free time yesterday and today and it was fun to translate the story.
I hope I find a lot of free time the following days too. ;-)

Wow, that's awesome!! ... At that rate, we'll maybe get a few tapes done this year!!! :)
I've been busy translating too, and going to contact people about the 2nd script. TheZorker has already started recording his lines for Starlite and Lurky!
