dark purple girl-sprite more expensive as other colours !-?

Post by Tom-sprite »

Hi !
The only girl sprite I miss for my collection is the dark-purple girl-sprite.
I think she is called Posie !
I already bought Spritzie,Merrily,Flutter,Glee and Dee Lite
At first I did not want to collect them cause I like the faces of the male sprites a little more but I changed my opinion.
A lot of people say that none of the girl-sprites is rarer compared to the others.
They are a little rarer compared to the male sprites...that is a fact.
I was so lucky to get 5 sprites in only one week for (converted) 60 dollar !
But it annoys me that I wasn t able to get Posie for a fair price.
There are three auctions at the moment where one can buy her but I think all are somehow ridiculously overpriced .
She approximately costs three times as much as one of the other girl-sprites I bought!
This is crazy !
Does anybody of you guys know why they demand so much money for her ?

Here are the ebay links :

(ebay-Germany)

(ebay-USA)

http://cgi.ebay.de/Vintage-1983-Rainbow ... 2c533036ff

(ebay-USA)

I will definitely wait for an auction with a more suitable price !
What do you guys think about it ... strange right ???

None of those are really worth more than any of the others.

Some sellers think what they have is the world's greatest and try to charge a price to match. Every now and then someone will actually buy at those inflated prices. Remember what people in the USA were asking for the Gen 4 dolls a month ago? Same idea, different place.

I have the same opinion Blondine !

I currently see a lot of overpriced auctions.
...mostly ebay-dealers with ebay-shops.
They demand daring prices and let run the auction for 30 days.
And when they don t sell after a month they simly let it rerun.
There are even auctions that last up to half a year that way.
I can t put into words how annoying this can be when you are interested in such an item... but it definitely would be a big mistake to support such a behaviour.
This kind of selling-strategy sucks endlessly...really makes me sick !
Such sellers try to demoralize and sit out the potential buyer.
Those sometimes quite cormorant sellers think they are pointy-headed but they won t get any extra-money out of me.
My pain threshold for a used Posie-sprite is 18 € ... and I guess even this price would not be cheap !
I got my other girl - sprites for 4€,4€,10€,10€,12€ ...
I think I will ignore those 3 auctions and will just wait a little longer.

I mailed all three sellers and told them that they demand way too much money.
The German seller told me that he bought the sprite quite expensive and does not want to sell under his buying-price... despite everything I thought he was a little unsympathetic and unreliable .
One of the american sellers replied very friendly and told me that he will probably lower the price cause he also thought that his price is too high.
He admitted that he made a mistake. At least ...
The seller from Texas did not write back by now ... maybe he answers later.
Most sellers orient towards other auction-prices and this way sometimes ridiculous high prices occur.

I'm sorry, but if someone would have messaged me on ebay stating that, I would have either just ignored it, or told them to buy it elsewhere. I don't overprice anyway, but still.

I did want to share my opinion on it as a seller. I think that if I set something too high, it won't sell. I lose out on the fees that way. However, it's hard to price RB stuff because unless you know the market, it's hard to say what something is worth. There's really no price guide. You rely on what ebay shows for averages, and then just go with that.

I got the message ! ;)
I prove you right that it s true that it is not that easy to make prices as a seller but it is obvious that those three sellers did not rely on what ebay shows for average at all.
Might be that one seller decided to try out offering used and loose Posie-sprite overpriced and the two others simply emulated him in this special case.
If one compares those three auctions which show used loose girl-sprites with all of the other sprite-auctions on ebay one can notice a quite big difference between prices.
This behaviour is simply unjustified, rash or mercenary !
I think it s totally legitimate to inform a seller about a insolent price ... at least 2 of 3 sellers answered me ! ;-)

Very interesting is also boardmember Galacticatts ebay-guide(Love your guide Galacticatt :-D ) ...
It says a loose girl sprite should not cost more than 25€ !
Converted to Euro : circa 17 €
I really trust her guide ...

This seller is from Canada ... sadly he does not ship to Germany.
But the price is less than one third compared to the other 3 auctions ...
the fur is a little felted here but one can give it a brush ...

Is it cheaper to buy from a higher-priced German auction (http://cgi.ebay.de/Grosser-Sternwichtel ... 45f13bb1ae) or buy from a foreign eBay seller and pay a much higher shipping fee?

And I'm not sure if it is just the camera, but some of the toys seem a much darker purple?
