So like say we're doing the set of green properties. Would we used more "green" themed places, such as a jungle, a field, and a forest? And what would be the most expensive place to rent and build up? There's gotta be two

Re: Rainbow Brite Board Games
We could theme the places with colours, but it isn't necessary. I think the colours would strictly be for interest and not signify anything about the properties - except maybe their cost. Like, we could keep the colours from Monopoly the same for this board, since people tend to relate the colours to the importance of the property, at least I did when I was younger and played.
I don't like the idea of having the colour signify something about the property because if each player is a colour kid, then all of the properties need to require something of each colour. Which is why it would probably be best to stick to places on Earth rather than Rainbow Land.
As for more 'expensive' places, if we think about it in context, we're not working with money, we're working with star sprinkles. If something requires more star sprinkles, then it's probably larger and requires more colour. One really expensive set could be, say, the Amazon Rainforest and the Andes Mountains. Two expansive places that are related and would require a lot of work. 'Cheaper' places, then, would be smaller areas. Each stop could be a really famous place on Earth, from little towns to big cities, to parks, to landmarks.

Re: Rainbow Brite Board Games
I love the thought of a RB monopoly game.
Here's a few little ideas
Since theres 8 different "colors" on the board, 7 of them could be the color zones, like red region, orange meadows, yellow plains, etc... Then maybe the next set the colorkids rooms in the castle, and some of the spaces with 3 colors instead of 2 could be for Buddy, Patty, Canary and whatever other colorkids colors are more heavily used. the 8th could be the colorcastle, the color cave and RB's room or something like that? Just a thought.

Yes, I had thought of something similar to that. I haven't played any of the monopoly games from tv shows though. I have played the one where you buy websites on the internet and I think I've played the 80's version too.Aquarious wrote:I love the thought of a RB monopoly game.

I've only ever played the original Monopoly. Well, we've got Bibleopoly, but we only played it once, so I don't remember much at all about that.
I'm trying to think of the other little nuances about Monopoly... Other things that would be hard to move over into an RB version.

My Ideal would have been a Rainbow Brite version of Trivial Pursuit since they were both started in 1984.
Rainbow brite fan since 1984.
Re: Rainbow Brite Board Games
That's a cool idea. Reminds me of the Scene It idea. It'd be cool to have a Scene It for the various 80s cartoons, rather than just RB.

What if the object of the game is to keep places colorful? The different places could be various parts of Rainbow Land and Earth. Maybe each player is a different color kid, and when they land on a place, they can 'buy' it, and be in charge of keeping that place colorful. The currency isn't money, but star sprinkles. So when they 'buy' a place, they give some of their star sprinkles to the 'bank', which could actually be Rainbow Brite. When someone lands on their spot, they have to give some of their star sprinkles to the owner, to 'pitch in on keeping that spot colorful'.
The things to put on that spot, instead of houses and hotels and what not, could be rainbows - small, medium, and large. The larger rainbow could mean the area needed to keep colorful has grown, so more star sprinkles are needed to look after it.
The 'income tax' is just Rainbow coming around asking for star sprinkles to get your places colorful again.
'Go' could be the Color Castle, where you restock on star sprinkles. Actually, the bank is better off being Twink, who mediates between the kids and RB.
'Jail' could still be the Pits. The various bad things that happen in Monopoly could be switched out for bad things that Murky's cooking up, so when you go to 'jail', it could be that you have to travel to the Pits to battle Murky, and you can't come back until you've 'beaten' him by rolling whatever it is you're supposed to roll.
What else is there in that game... I can't think of anything else. How's it sound so far? My brain keeps going @_@
I love this idea a lot - it fits so perfectly while changing things a bit in a pleasent way.
Or maybe the 8th color could be pink? I dunno but I like pink.aquarious wrote:I love the thought of a RB monopoly game.

Re: Rainbow Brite Board Games
I wonder if the horses can subsitute the railroads in this version?
Rainbow brite fan since 1984.
Re: Rainbow Brite Board Games
That's an idea. But I believe the Railroads were another property you could own, which would thus be translated into another property to keep colourful. It could be reworked a certain way. It is rather convenient that there are four railroads and four horses...Major Ursa wrote:I wonder if the horses can subsitute the railroads in this version?
