An idea...

Post by FanChan »

Not sure if this was the right place to post this, but here goes.

I think it'd be really fun if we put together a few RB flash games. Maybe some Mario-type ones with collecting star sprinkles while avoiding various Murky-type traps, gloom clouds and such. I'd do it all myself, unfortunately I have no knowledge in programming or making flash stuff. If anyone here does know how to do that sort of thing, I'd be happy to help with the artwork and level layouts and that sort of thing. What do you all think?

"I don't doubt," Krys said as he paused at the door. "I worry."

I'm no good at flash either, but I'd love that idea! Just I'd prefer not to have blood and gore, so it's a game that's true to rainbow brite.

I am decent however at program's like game maker however, but I'm better at 2d shooters (doesn't have to be violent ones) than platform games.

Here's something I made using game maker that I had been keeping secret from you, it's made in game maker, not flash, and it's incomplete, but I still have fun playing the incomplete game.

If you really like it, I can finish it if you want. it's a game about moonglo saving the night sky from monsters.

animated moonglo image used in the game was made by someone on deviantart, I'm not sure who.

So anyways, I'd be happy to make a rainbow brite game, just I couldn't use flash and I probably couldn't make a platform type game. It would have to depend on the game genre.

My demo game won't work for windows vista users unfortunately. :(

edit: I also forgot to mention, I'd probably need help with graphics since I'm not a good artist.

Sorry if I'm posting too much. :)

You're not posting too much ^_^ And I'm afraid I'm having the same problem as the commenters. I've got Vista, and it won't run for me. Form the screenshot, though, it looks really amusing.

A shooter could be cool, though. You could have Rainbow shooting colour at black-and-white things.

I'm pretty sure all games made with Game Maker actually don't work on vista. Either that, or all games made with a certain version of game maker.

If you want me to finish the game for you or make you any game with game maker, I could try making it with a newer version (7.0 instead of 6.1). I have a feeling games made with the newer version will indeed work on vista, we'll have to try it and see.

I've converted it to a newer version which I think might work on your computer, try this one and see if you can play it:

Your idea is pretty cool, Fan... I wish I had some skills, but I lack any programming talent. And Dialga, I like the Moonglo idea as well. Didn't try to play it, but it looks cute!

I did download an rpg maker at one point. That'd be kind of amusing, but I don't think you can mod the sprites. Maybe one of these days I'll pay for a flash program.

Fanchan, were you able to play the game in the second link? Let me know when you get a chance to try it. :)

Also, I have an rpg maker as well. I'm not good with the default battle system programing, but I have a pokemon engine on it.
