Yup, it's definitely okay for a boy to read a girl's book, I'm glad you let him read it, that was very kind of you. I'd have done the same thing. :)

There's no way I wouldn't have. I encourage reading in my classroom. Currently I'm doing a read-aloud of a "girl's" book (one that's been adapted for younger children) and they all love it.

Funny thing is, the book I'm reading now addresses gender stereotyping as well. What one culture sees as the "norm" is seen as appalling by another. Rather interesting, especially in a fantasy book.

He's reading Little House on the Prairie.

The book I'm reading is fantasy and is called The Exile and the Sorcerer. The author does a line of fantasy books and each book I've read addresses something underneath it all (quick to judge others, gender stereotyping, religion vs. heresy, etc.

oh ok so it's two different books, one you're reading with the kids and the other one by yourself. I get it. The books that address those moral things sound interesting.

Actually, it's one the boy's reading by himself (Little House on the Prairie), and one she's reading to the kids (The Exile and the Sorcerer).

"You still doubt me, after all this time?"
"I don't doubt," Krys said as he paused at the door. "I worry."

I have no idea! I didn't think it was but I didn't mention the book I was reading to the class at all here... just the one I'm reading and the one he's reading.
