Well, well,well...

Here's a SECOND MIB Kitty Brite for sale on ebay USA with worldwide shipping...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Rainbow-Bri ... 588c9f674a

Item number is 380316378934

Starting bid is USD 99.99 with buy now for 229.99, just below what the previous one sold for. The box on this one is not as good as on the previous one, so I think the buy now price is too high.

Did anyone on here get the previous one?

Uh, it is supposed to mean in prefect condition but here we have a different situation...

Kitty is all right

But the box is not Brite!

I think I know a way to two to help the box without opening it but these methods take time to get results.

Okay...it didn't sell for $99, so now it's listed for $149.99? Someone better explain the logic to me, because at the moment its escaping me.

And sorry, Clinozoisite, but no one can explain what doesn't exist.

I will say that strategy is dumber than a pickpocket in a nudist camp...

Remember that the previous one sold for almost (all amounts in USD) 240. There were quite a lot of bidders, so there was a certain amount of interest and demand for this item. Instead of doing like the first seller did by starting at zero, this joker started at 99 with a buy now of 230. Doing that dashed the hopes of anyone who had any idea of getting it cheap. They didn't want to be stuck at that price if they were the only bidder. Had this one started at zero the seller had a good chance of getting around 150 for it. I doubt it would have gone for more given the condition of the box. By starting at 150 this time around, I'm pretty sure he's going to have to relist it again.

And it's sooooooooooo typical on ebay these days. Remember the large MIB RB for 299 that got increased to 329? It's still there. There's a lot of overpriced RB stuff that sits there month after month while other examples of the same item sell when they start at zero. They don't get it. Or the the large MIB RB that started at 295 and is now all the way down to about 250 (still on) when several have sold recently for 100 or less? MIB Baby Brite for 200? Small MIB Lurky for 250 in an incomplete box that just got marked down to about 230? (both listed for close to a year) MIB Cuddle Star for 70 and then 60 for the past 7 or 8 months? I got 2 MIB Cuddle Stars recently. One for about 25 plus four loose RB items and the other for 80 plus an MIB Baby Brite! And since this Cuddle Star is at 60, Someone else listed one for 55 hoping to undercut the first one.

They really don't get it.

I know that the tactic of raising the price can work in the art market (basically, no0bs only think that expensive art is good art), but I've not seen this tactic work successfully in the collectibles market before. Mostly because the items are mass-produced and people tend to know their resale value, whereas fine art is usually unique and therefore the value is subjective.

Weird.

That's true. By that logic, the more expensive it is, the better it is. Well, sort of. I certainly get what you're saying. And I'm sure you can get away with if for one-of-a-kind items, at least with some people. Here it's a different story. Although an MIB Kitty Brite is pretty rare in the little world of RB, she's not made out of unobtainium, like the MIB Moonglow and hard body Starlite are. I suspect that what happened here is the owner of the second one saw what the first one sold for and put the one from his/her own collection up for sale in hopes of getting the same money. They didn't and maybe the higher price is a way to keep it from being sold as there may be some domestic things going on in the background that we don't know about. I'll watch this one and will see what will happen next...
