If a show states it as canon, then it is thus. For all purposes, the 80's cartoon is the canon storyline that was never really given an "end". If I am to use the episodes as research for fanfic and such, then I go along with what has been stated if I want my piece to follow the canon storylines while telling something new. Even if someone in a director's cut were to say "well we used that as a bit of humor", that doesn't change what occurs within the timeline of the show.

Actually I think it can change it. cause using it as humor in some cases can mean its just a joke and therefore didnt really even happen that way. But I think just the fact that this is being debated means we're taking a kids show too seriously.

Even if it's humor, it DID happen in the show, and thus is considered canon event. Someone's director's cut doesn't change that. And yes, I take my fanfiction writing seriously, so I do take canon events seriously. I cannot tell a good story if I have no regard for what actually exists. I actually like to research any events in a show (and not just RB) that have relevance to what I'm writing at the time so that I can stay close to existing storylines (unless a fic is AU, in which case I stick to most of the events).

As a Fanfic writer I share your views. The way I see it; Rainbow Land is something like Neverland where time moves differently then on Earth. Though I do think they can age, since if the 80's series and 2000's webtoons are in the same canon (since they used the same characters and backdrops (i.e. Color Castle in RTRL)) then they do age some, but at a very slow rate. As such they could indeed stay kids for decades or even centuries.

That said the 700 year thing does bug me, as it makes me wonder how long Wisp has been Rainbow Brite. Was it before 700 years, was it during or near the end? Was Monstromurk responsible for Rainbow Land's state when Wisp arrived? We know the Color Kids have existed before Wisp, since they got scattered and imprisoned. Of course Mama Dismal also bugs me for similar reasons as it further makes a timeline headache as well as She's blamed for the reason Murky hates colors, but why does she seem so mean in the flashback when she's really nice in the present and WANTS him to use more colors?
