HELP wanted for wall mural design in new house

Post by Superselena »

Hi Rainbow peeps,

I'm Selena I'm a massive rainbow fan, I love her! I have rainbow hair, a rainbow Brite tattoo on my leg leg and 'Paint a Rainbow in your heart' tattooed on my arm. for my 30th birthday I dressed up as rainbow brite (not for the first time) and had a rainbow Brite cake.

My boyfriend calls me Rainbow. I call him Teddy. We have just brought our first house together and want to pay tribute to our 80's history.

I'm into rainbow Brite and he loves Superted so we are looking for help to design a wall mural that will be painted in our house of the pair of them holding hands. Any body fancy giving it a shot??

Selena :)

Super awesome!! I'd love to read your how-to :) I'll be getting a rainbow mural painted in my rainbow rooms at some point - just need to find a local artist who can pull it off properly.

In the end I painted the rainbow it took many hours and lots of masking tape. it is glittery too but the pictures don't pick that my. The rainbow brites and superted where made by me and glued on to the wall. I'm really pleased with the results. :)

Where there is a will there is a way.

 Super! I love the design!

One day I'd love to collect those cardboard or wooden designs of characters and hang em all over the place.

 That's if I could ever get my hands on them...

The characters where internet pictures, printed on to thin A3 card at a print shop then because they had slightly fuzzy edges I got a sharpie marker and drew round all the outlines with a black pen. This took hours and a very steady hand!

The rainbow was created with masking tape and pots of sample paints. Then outlines between colours with a chisel tipped marker black pen, it was also covered in a glitter varnish.

We glued them on the walls with no more nails (we are lucky enough to own or house not rent) then covered them with a glitter varnish spray to finish and protect.. For the stars upstairs we painted the wall a midnight blue colour and when it had dried using a scrubbing brush flicked white paint on it.

in short this didn't cost alot to do. no specialist stuff just some imagination. We are now discussing our 80's themed dining room which already has 80's records framed and on the wall. :)
