** The Silver Sprite **

High in the clouds of Rainbow Land, Stormy was madder than ever. Not at anyone, but rather herself. She had made a present for her faithful friend, Sky Dancer. And now she couldn't find it. She searched all the corners of Rainbow Land, including the castle. Yet still she couldn't find it. Folding her arms, she would just have to make another. The party was just a few short hours away and Sky Dancer was nowhere to be seen. Finally having enough of sulking, she made her way back to the ground and walked to the Blue Lagoon. Picking the finest of white flowers with a tint of blue, she made her way to each of the color zones. After collecting all the colored flowers, it was time to gather the rest of the supplies she would need. Along the way she noticed an odd colored sprite. His fur was silver and his face was a pale grey. He looked like any other sprite. But he wasn't a color. Not really. Pondering, she then paused. Was he Twink? She walked to him and picked up his limp body. Was he asleep? Taking the poor thing back to the color castle, she was soon greeted by several sprites. All were confused. They told Stormy that they had just seen Twink. Said that Twink was helping Rainbow Brite in the Violet Acres. But Stormy wasn't sure. She took the sprite into the kitchen and ever so carefully started to pat a damp washcloth over him. When she was done, the fur shimmered under the light through the window. Her eyes widened. So he was a silver sprite! But where did he come from? Taking him to a room and placing him on a bed, she covered him up. She then went outside to find Rainbow Brite. When she finally did find her, Stormy told Rainbow Brite what she'd found. Confused, Rainbow Brite followed her friend back to the castle and to the room. By now most of the color kids had all joined in. Each just as confused as the next. A silver sprite? How could that be? They all looked at their faithful sprites, who in turn looked back at them. Even Twink was lost. For no one had ever heard of a silver sprite in Rainbow Land. As Rainbow Brite walked back outside she was greeted by Starlite who told her that he'd seen Murky. That Murky seemed to be following Stormy and now had disapeared. Stormy looked at her friends then in the direction of the pits. What was that fool man up to this time? Stormy glared. She didn't have time to waiste on a man like Murky Dismal. She had to get her gift made for Sky Dancer. It wasn't everyday a horse turned another year older. She stormed back in the castle for some more supplies. Rainbow Brite looked at her friend worriedly, but she quickly turned her attention back on Starlite, who stared back.

As the minutes passed by, so did Stormy's patience. Her second attempt on her gift was falling apart quicker than she could get them to stick together. Screamed in frustration as she slamed the project to the ground. "I wasn't ment for arts and crafts!" she yelled as a thick cloud surrounded her. It was then a hand gently touched her shoulder. Turning, Stormy looked right at Indigo. Patty O' Green picked up the gift. Or what was left of it and looked at Stormy. The two friends tried to talk to Stormy. But Stormy wouldn't hear of it. She stormed away from them, madder than ever. By now, all of Rainbow Land was looking up at the sky as thick clouds seemed to engolf the sun. Everyone knew that Stormy was mad, but they couldn't figure out why. Storming off into a wooded area, Stormy sat down under a tree. Sky Dancer was her best friend and nothing she made seemed to come out right. As she starred at her shaddow, she noticed a figure walking over to her. She looked up and noticed it was the silver sprite. He walked over to her and smiled. He then handed her a single white flower. Stormy looked at the flower, then back at the sprite. He didn't speek, nor try to change her mind. He didn't seem mad nor scared. He didn't act as tho pretending nor fake a grin. He simply just smiled as he looked at her. Stormy smiled back. She knew what to do. She gave the sprite a hug, then stood up. As the two started to leave, she noticed Murky coming out of the shaddows. Was he after the silver sprite? She glared in thought. Of course he was. Murky held out his gloom gun and pointed it at them. The sprite ran behind her in a panic as Stormy watched the sprite. She glared again. So he WAS after the poor sprite! "I don't think so!", she darted as she raised an arm, "Or did you forget who you're dealing with!?!" she warned him.

Walking along a path Buddy Blue was in deep thought as he watched his feet move. He'd been out jogging all day and had heard of a silver sprite that Stormy had found. There was no such thing as a silver sprite in Rainbow Land. Was there? It was about that time he noticed several sprites running around in the grass. Turning, he kept on walking till suddenly he noticed Murky running from Stormy's lightening attacks. Buddy Blue stood dumbfounded as he watched Murky run this way and that way till he finally disapeared into the pits. Turning around, Buddy saw Stormy standing off in the distance. Looking as mad as ever with folded arms. Behind her was the silver sprite. Confused, Buddy Blue walked to them and the sprite quickly ran to him and hid behind him. The two friends looked at each other then back at the sprite. "Now that is odd", Buddy Blue remarked. He knelt down and stared at the sprite for a long time as Stormy threw up her arms. She turned on toe and walked away. But Buddy Blue was more intune with the sprite. Then it dawned on him. He looked back at Stormy, but before he could say anything, she was already gone.

Back at the castle, everyone was preparing for the party. But Stormy had by now locked herself in her room. She was trying to color but the crayons kept breaking. She tried to draw, but the pencils wouldn't sharppen right. She tried to glue, but even that didn't seem to work. Then she looked at the white flower. A tear ran down her face. Suddenly her face light up. She had an idea!

As everyone gathered outside, Moonglo led Sky Dancer to the center of the crowd. She turned in worry. "Where's Stormy?", she asked Rainbow Brite, who had no clue. Everyone looked this way and that way, but no one could find her. It was about that time when Buddy Blue and the silver sprite apeared. Yet rather helping everyone out, Buddy made his way to the tool shed with the silver sprite close behind. It was then that Stormy appeared. She turned and noticed the sprite go into the shed, but she didn't see Buddy Blue. She started forward then turned and saw Sky Dancer walking to her. He nuzzled her lovingly and she patted him in returned. Turning, she noticed the others coming.

While sprites and kids gathered up party supplies and gifts, Stormy looked at Sky Dancer. She'd worked so hard trying to find the perfect gift for her very best friend. But what do you give a horse for his birthday? She looked up at the sky. They'd been together so long, she thought she knew. Yet today seemed different somehow. Looking down she noticed the silver sprite looking up at her. He smiled then nodded. Even Rainbow Brite smiled as she walked over. "Buddy Blue explained things.", she said. But Stormy had no idea what Rainbow Brite was talking about. She looked at Buddy Blue, who had some sort of jar in his hands. He knelt down and slowly dipped a paint brush into the jar. He then slowly started to paint on the sprite. Shocked, Stormy watched. What was he doing to the poor sprite? Wasn't Murky trying to capture it enough torcher on the poor thing?! She looked at Rainbow Brite confusingly, "It seems he fell into a paint bucket. Don't worry, the paint remover will take care of it.", Rainbow Brite explained. Stormy just stood there not saying a word as the silver sprite suddenly turned blue.

Stormy's eyes widened as everyone started to laugh, "CHAMP?! All this time it was Champ?!" she glared at Buddy Blue who simply just looked at her. But before she could get any more madder, Champ handed her yet another white flower. He gave her a smile then looked at her worriedly.

Stormy stood quitely as Buddy Blue placed a hand on her shoulder, "We can worry about this later. But first..." he started as he looked at Sky Dancer. Stormy turned around. She gazed at Sky Dancer and about wanted to cry.

How could she forget? She walked to him and gave him a hug. She then placed the flower in his mane and whispered in his ear, "Happy Birthday Boy". She closed her eyes briefly then looked into his eyes, "I love you".
