If Looks Could Kill

**If Looks Could Kill**

It was a day like no other in Rainbow Land. Rainbow Brite and her friends were busy cleaning up Rainbow Land while the sprites tended to the mines with Starlite's help. Looking up at the sky Rainbow Bite pointed cheerfully as she called to her friends "Look everyone! Krys is coming!" She waved to her friend, who'd been away for sometime. Krys waved back as Onix decended. In a moment they're eyes met, then Krys looked away. Rainbow Brite pondered. Had something she'd done upset him? She turned in time to see the kids running over to greet Krys as Onix landed. Shrugging, Rainbow Brite slowly walked away. She didn't give it much more thought as she gathered up her wateringcan. Turning, she noticed him starring at her. Then he turned away again. Confused, Rainbow just turned around. She shrugged again. What was his deal? Was her dress dirty or something? As she watered her flowers she stopped to look back one last time, but Krys had already gone in the Color Castle. It was about that time when Red Butler ran up to her and said that Murky Dismal was up to his old tricks again. She listend to her friend then told him to let the others know. Running, she called to Red Butler and said to have everyone wait in the castle. There wasn't much time to find Starlite and she only had a few color crystals in her pocket. Hoping she could just scare him away and be done with it, she first had to find him. Rushing around a corner, she ran right into something soft and hairy. Falling over backwards she froze as she starred right up at Lurky. He reached for her as he danced about. Jumping Rainbow Brite ran from his grasp and shot out a rainbow at him to distract him. She then bolted behind a bush and waited for him to leave. Starring at him for a long time, she pondered. Where was Murky? She turned on toe. Lurky wasn't much a problem to take care of. It was Murky that was the trouble. She counted the crystals she had left then cringed. She knew she must find more, but there wasn't time. Murky was in Indigo Acres and she knew she had to find her friend before he did. Bolting, she ran up the path as fast as she could. Yet when she finally did make it there, Murky wasn't anywhere around. It was then she spotted her friend and she waved to get her friend's attention. Suddenly Rainbow's eyes lit up with a panic "Indigo! Behind you!" she called. But it was too late, Murky had captured Indigo and before Rainbow Brite could reach the crunge buggy, Murky had her strapped down with Lurky taking hold of the wheel. In a cloud of smoke the two fanished. Coughing, Rainbow Brite knew she couldn't catch up with them. Not without Starlite. And there wasn't time to go get him. She raced over a hill hopping to cut them off on the next turn. Yet by the time she reached the other side she was cut off by one of the many small rivers that ran throughout Rainbow Land. Each one leading back to the Blue Lagoon. Looking up at the other side she could see the buggy fanishing out of site. "INDIGO!!" she called. Turning she ran as fast as she could. There wasn't time to go for help. She could only hope she could reach the pits before they did. It was then she started to regret herself. Krys was in the castle. Onix was right there outside. Why didn't she get them? Was it cuz he looked at her all weird-like? She glared at herself. That was stupid! He was a friend. Of course he'd help. So why hadn't she asked him? Running as fast as she could, she cut through the Green Plains and into the Red Region. But she didn't see them anywhere. Was she too late? She pulled out the crystals. They'd be of no use in the pits. Tears weld up in her eyes. What was she going to do? It was then she could here the roaring sounds of a metal horse. She turned and looked up only to see Krys and Onix. Onix greeted her as he landed, but Krys just sat quietly looking at her. NOW what was he looking at?! She glared at him then turned. Why couldn't he just say something already?! She could feel her face get red. In an instant they were silent. What was wrong with her? He came to help. Had Red Butler told him? Why couldn't she just get over it and hop on Onix? She turned and looked at Krys. But Krys just stared. What was he thinking? She glared at him as she stood. What was she doing? She told herself to move already, but for some reason it was if time itself stood still. It was then they spotted the grundge buggy as it came to a screeching halt. Rainbow Brite turned. It was now or never. She used her color belt and before it even started, it was over. Murky ran around in circles trying to flee the rainbow as Lurky bounded in place happily. Rainbow Brite turned in time to see Krys untie Indigo, who ran out of site. Standing back the two friends watched as Murky and Lurky hightailed it back to the pits. A few moments later, Rainbow Brite watched as Krys climbed back on Onix. He looked at her without a word. She stared back. Was he testing her? But why won't he say anything? She glared at him. Her blood boiling. She wanted to scream. Clamping her fists, she stood there silent then suddenly she had enough as she broke the silence, "Will you just say something already! What are you looking at anyway?!"

Krys let out a laugh as he almost fell off his horse, "If looks could kill" he burst. "Come on. Everyone's waiting for us." he held out a hand and smiled. Rainbow Brite stood dumbstruck. Was all of this just in her head. Sighing, she took his hand as he helped her up on Onix's back. Once seated, Onix took to the sky. Staring at Krys she suddenly felt better as he looked back at her, "So what's for dinner?" he teased. Rainbow Brite smacked him as he continued to laugh.
