(I understand there are Christians here. This is not an anti-Christian article, just things that used to be believed and are not anymore. This is not meant to be a religious debate thread. I just can't believe anyone could ever think RB was violent and satanic. Does anyone know who this writer is?)

I had to re-do this. I finally figured out which writer your were talking about. I have no idea who came up with that originally.

I believe that anyone thinking that RB is a violent Satanist has an extremely bad case of HUA disease. What's that? That's the illness you get where you normally die of suffocation if you don't fart often enough to ensure a sufficient supply of oxygen...

It's absolutely foolish for someone to call it satanic obviously. But from around '03-early '07 I was deep into evangelical Christianity. All I can say is..I understand why hard core bible thumpers may think what they think....

I'll explain...according to Christian theology....fantasy in and of itself ..stories or not... seem to not be good. The bible doesn't talk about fantasy or sci-fi stories but what it does talk about it anything that takes away from God as being the origins. For instance..Rainbow Brite controls rainbows....who is said to have created the first rainbow? God after the flood. Now of course we can all create rainbows if we just stand outside on a sunny day with a hose and sprinkle it in the sunlight....but i think what it comes down to is....and I use to be this way.....I wasn't judgemental really....I still liked fantasy but I was conflicted as a hard core christian. I just wanted to follow God the best I could. I found if anything took away from the truth of the bible it might not be good. For instance I have always been a christmas fanatic.....but most will admit Christmas is pagan ultimately in origin and I had such a hard time about it....doesn't matter to me anymore as I'd wanted to be pagan for years and finally let myself be me...but it was a hard few years trying to deal with this.....the God of the bible doesn't want his followers partaking in anything that might "open the flood gates" so to speak.

I know there are many christians like I was who maybe didn't and don't fret about this stuff. But honestly...and this isn't coming from anything self righteous...i'm not even christian anymore...the bottom line is you have christians...who believe fully every word of the bible....every word. And some who believe MOST...some who believe barely any aside from Jesus....if you believe every word of the bible..you end up having a hard time coming to conclusions about stuff like fantasy like Rainbow Brite.....traditions like Christmas...which even though it has a christian context to it is ultimately based in pagan traditions (holly, wreath, christmas trees etc). When someone calls Rainbow Brite satanic the only thing I can figure is they are super hardcore believers in every word of the bible.

For me....I still don't believe in certain things in the bible....I couldn't accept the way it talked about homosexuals for instance but if you truly believe the whole bible is God breathed and only penned down by men God talked to....then you have to believe in that too. I could not. And many other things as well. However I still do believe in a lot of it (I'm eclectic). So all i can say is...it's not so much they need their head examined as it's them just being really confident in what they believe the bible is saying with stuff about fantasy and make believe etc. I don't like how they talk about it but ultimately no one can necessarily agree..I'm sure more than enough Christians would hate my beliefs too

But...I hope I've explained somewhat why they think like they do sometimes as I've been there.

I think people like that that claim Christianity have no idea what that means. You can follow every word of the bible. There's nothing wrong with watching shows or stories like this. It's not like you believe they are real. That's just plain silly. People take the words of the bible & contort them to whatever works best for them. then you have too many people say they are christian who don't even know what it means & that's where you get these fanatics.

I don't even like to call myself Christian because it's not portrayed as it should be , I'm a follower & believer of Christ. Total difference. Everyone says they are christian, then you get these crazy people claiming cartoons as innocent as rb are satanic?! geez. the worst thing is murky saying idiot or stupid. come on!

Some people can be so lame!
