I wonder if playmates just stopped making the toys perhaps another company will pick up the rights?

I don't think it would be that easy to do. First the other company would have to approach United Media and perhaps Hallmark to see if that could be done from a legal standpoint. If everything came out OK on that deal, the other company would then have to negotiate with Playmates to buy the blueprints, tooling (if it still exists) and intellectual property rights for the Gen 4 dolls, horses and sprites. Then they would have to find a manufacturer in Asia to produce the toys. Then they would have to find retailers to sell them once production got restarted. That's a lot of expensive 'if's'.

There's also the little matter that the toys are now tainted by failure. That's going to make them a very hard sell to both retailers and consumers.

How on earth did that Gen 1 Color Castle wind up in the middle of all that Gen 4 stuff?
